A Friday Night Demonic Encounter

I had an opportunity to perform exorcism last Friday and I wanted to write down everything I learned from it so I don’t forget.

During a Spirit-filled praise a lady collapsed (Principle #1) — demons manifest when the Spirit of God is present (Lk. 11:20).

The members of my congregation motioned me to come. Her eyes were darting back and forth full of fear, a sign of a demonic spirit. With her husband we moved her to a private room (Principle #2) since demonic spirits like to to become the center of attention disrupting worship and drawing attention to themselves.

She first acted like there was nothing wrong and that this was a witch hunt. (Principle number 3) — Demonic spirit‘s power lays in its hiddenness. The moment a demonic spirit is discovered the battle is half over. She kept saying she needed to go to work tomorrow and kept appealing to her husband’s empathy saying why is he (referring to me) doing this to me. I too began to wonder if it was really a demonic spirit as well. I told it to look at me to look into the eyes since eyes are the window to the soul (Principle #5 – Look into the eyes of the person because the eyes are the lamp of the body — Matthew 6:22-24) it wouldn’t budge. I had a moment of doubt but I’ve seen this before. She definitely wasn’t acting normal and I know what I seen so I persisted. When it realized that it wasn’t going anywhere it began to manifest. When I asked what the name was it said there were many. I knew she worked as a psychiatric nurse so I said, “I know many of you guys came through the psychiatric ward!” The voice inside the woman responded, ”How did you know?” I sensed that here was a spirit of manic-depression. I told it to get out. She later told me that the spirits were really scared when they were found out.

I knew she had a suicidal tendency. So I called out the spirit of suicide. The spirit responded, “I killed her grandmother.“ I didn’t know the context. Later, when she came to her senses she told me that her grandmother killed herself when she was in her 80s by drowning herself in a well. It was the same spirit that was in her grandmother now had through generational curses came into this woman! (Principle #6 — generational curses are real).

There is so much more but for the sake of time I will do a few bullet points.

The demonic hated trash talking. I kept saying, “You have failed in your assignment. You will not touch her. She belongs to Jesus Christ! Then the spirits would hiss, “It hurts!”

1 Kings 18:27

At noon Elijah mocked them. He said, “Shout loudly, for he’s a god! Maybe he’s thinking it over; maybe he has wandered away; or maybe he’s on the road. Perhaps he’s sleeping and will wake up!”

At some point, it began to weep and cry, ”Jesus loves her so much!” This was the first time we heard the inner voice of the demonic. It sounded like Gollum from LoR. (Principle #7 — the victim has some will to fight then tell them to tell you the voices that they hear internally and invite them to fight with you to get them out. You have to switch back and forth from ministering to the individual and the demonic spirit).

She told me later that the name of Jesus and blood of Jesus created the most amount of discomfort.
